Yummy Dutchie Nom Noms

The Netherlands is definitely a melting pot, much like the USA, and therefore all sorts of delicious food is available - especially in our lovely city of Utrecht. The best so far? Vis en frites, with frites sauce and peanut sauce, and/or ketchup and frites sauce and fresh onions. Of course, there is also the croquet, the oude kaas and very delightfully fluffy bread. The dutch often speak in idioms, and a tasty meal is often described "as if an angel is peeing on your tongue!", alsof er een engeltje over je tong piest!

Above is "the 12 o'clock special from "De Haagsche Kluis" in Den Haag. Thank you Fulbright NL for treating us to such a lovely lunch! A croquet, mustard, crab salad and bread with mango chutney, and then just some cheese and bread on the side. Oh, and a little ball of cold mashed potatoes in the corner and swig of tomato soup.

The BEST fish and chips - vis en frites - from a little take away shop on the Oudegracht (old canal) aptly named Vis 'n Frites. Erg lekker, yum!
